Want to learn how to play guitar?
I have been playing guitar since the age of 15 after looking for a self-contained way to accompany myself as a songwriter. I view the guitar as a versatile instrument and try to teach a wide range of foundational techniques in order to fuel any budding guitarist to become the kind of player they would best like to be. I focus on chord acquisition, strumming and rhythm, note reading, tab reading, major/minor/pentatonic scales, music theory, finger-style, and fret board layout. I have worked with interested intermediate students on songwriting, chord theory, advanced scales, classical technique, and ensemble playing.
Want to learn how to play ukulele?
I picked up the ukulele so that I could work on an extremely portable instrument. I love the accessibility that the instrument offers for students of all ages and skills. It is a great tool for singing and song-writing while also offering a surprisingly effective medium to play complex finger-style arrangements of classical pieces. In lessons my students gain a library of chords they can use to play any song they like as well as a large arsenal of strumming patterns that apply to many styles of music. I work with interested intermediate students on chord theory, song-writing, tab, and finger-style.
