Nicki Neal

Musician/teacher in Western Chicagoland

About Nicki

Nicki has been singing from the moment her lungs had the capacity to support a tune. Desperate for an instrument to accompany that tune, she got by on piano lessons until she found her heart instrument in the guitar. Touring the country with her musical family from a young age, she used music as a way to tell stories about her unique experiences and give voice to things that are difficult to talk about.

After receiving classical guitar training in college, a new world of song-writing possibilities opened up and began her career in musical performance. While she always focuses on her singer/songwriter style, she decided to explore other avenues of music, which led to fronting a post-punk band and later a folk-pop group (eventually marrying the drummer). Currently she works to train future music makers while continuing to sing her stories on stage.
